Normal Operation for Wednesday 2/25/26 and Recovery collection schedule for Monday/Tuesday

Please note, we are under normal operations for today, Wednesday. Bulk collection for today has been postpone and will be rescheduled. If you had a bulk collection scheduled for today, please contact our office for rescheduling. Due the snowstorm between Sunday/Monday and road conditions were closed on Monday (2-22-26) and Tuesday (2-23-26). Understand that closing for inclement weather is not an easy decision to make and we need to take a lot of different factors into consideration. Try not to make a quick decision on collection schedules when involved while also giving time to the towns, residents, and communities to clear up main/side streets and driveways. We also have to make sure that our crews and trucks are able to operate safely as well.

We will be under holiday collection schedule for both Monday and Tuesday residential collection routes. Next schedule collection day. Recovery collection will be as followed:

- Monday's recovery collection will be Thursday, 2-26-26. If you are 1x per week collection on Mondays, you will also be collected at this time as well.

- Tuesday's recovery collection will be Friday, 2-27-26. If you are 1x per week collection on Tuesdays, you will be collected at this time as well.

** Keep in mind that if you are a driveway collection, your driveway should be shoveled, and trash bins need to be accessible and visible to ensure collection. Driveways or parking lots that are not shoveled, plowed, or iced create more risk and issues to perform collection safely/correctly.

Commercial services: please make sure your gated areas are not plowed in and regularly accessible to open and close properly. The commercial containers are metal, with colder temperatures, rain, ice, or snow could make your solid waste freeze inside the container.

Road conditions and side streets. There could be some Roads and side streets hard for the trucks to drive down. Depending on Inclines/declines or if they need to back into the street. Yes, the trucks are larger than personal vehicles. But that does not mean they handle snow and ice better. All drivers we entrust to use their best judgement and thoughtful decision making.

If you have bulk schedule for collection, understand that they can't be buried under ice or snow. That could affect collection.

We normally do not delay start times for collections in inclement weather situations normally.

Please note after evaluating the weather conditions, we will be closed for today, Tuesday 2/24/26 due to the inclement weather. Recovery collection for residential routes and community collection scheduled for today will be your next scheduled collection day, Friday: February 27, 2026.

Please understand that this is not an easy decision, and we have to take a lot of different factors into consideration. We also have to make sure that our crews and trucks are able to operate safely as well. This will give time for side streets and driveways to be cleared up and cleared.

Friday, February 27, 2026, will be treated as a double day/make up day collection. All 1x per week customers will be collected on that day as well as normal.

Our office is closed today due to the inclement weather. If you are a residential customer or a community, your recovery collection will be on your next scheduled collection day, Friday (2-27-2026). This includes if you have a 1x per week collection as well.

We will collect all your regular household solid waste on the double day. If you have more household solid waste because of the Holiday, please make sure the extra is bagged and either placed next to your container or in a separate container for collection on the Double Day.

Customers who have 1x per week collection and are affected by the Holiday:

If your normal collection schedule is on always on Mondays. You will be collected on that Double Day Collection as well.

It is very important to have your container(s) at the curb or driveway the night before your collection day to ensure collection.

Operations at Pinto Brothers Disposal will be closed for Memorial Day, Monday, May 27, 2024.

Residential customers that normally have collection performed on Mondays, there will be no collection due to the holiday. Thursday, May 27th, will be the next collection day for all 1x and 2x per week residential customers. Please make sure for Thursday, May 27th, collection your trash is out the night before on Thursday morning.

Any extra bagged solid waste you have out for collection on Thursday, the drivers will make sure to clean up. No bulk collection will be scheduled for collection on this day.

Please note due to the double day on Thursday, May 30th, your collection time will be different than normal, please be patient as the drivers go through the routes.

Attention residential customers in the following communities: Beau Ridge at Holmdel, Rolling Hills at Maple Run, and the Barons at Basking Ridge please note due to the Holiday on Monday, May 28th, your make-up collection day will be on Tuesday, May 30th. Please make sure to have your solid waste out the night before for Tuesday collection.

Residential customers that have collection on Tuesday/Friday or Tuesday’s only you will be on a normal collection schedule for the Memorial Day collection week.

Please remember a few general guidelines on normal collection:

Please note after sending our crews out for collection this morning and evaluating conditions, we pulled our crews in. Understand that this is not an easy decision to make, and we need to take different factors into consideration.

Recovery collection for today will be your next scheduled collection day, Friday (2-16-2024)

(*If you have 1x per week collection, you will be collected on Friday, 2-16-2024 as well)

Reminders for Inclement Weather:

When there is a potential of inclement weather, we do not make any decisions about our collection schedule until that morning of the collection day.

When we are evaluating inclement weather, we have to take a few different factors into account.

How the current weather pattern at that time is performing
How are the current road conditions
Have the transfer station/Landfills change there operation times
Any Local and/or State announcements
Most importantly the safely of our drivers and crews

If tomorrow morning everything is okay, our drivers/crews will start to perform our regular collection schedule.

If any time after that point the inclement weather starts after the drivers/crews start their routes. We will start to evaluate the intensity of the storm, road conditions, driver/crew feed back, and other items.
If at any time during collection tomorrow we see conditions increasingly getting poor, we could potentially pull our drivers/crews over the roads for safety concerns.

If tomorrow morning, the inclement weather starts earlier than reports.

We will evaluate the intensity of the storm, road conditions and other items before sending our drivers/crews out.

If either situation above is the reality

If we decide to bring in or not send the drivers/crews out the recovery collection for tomorrow would be your next schedule collection day, Friday (2-16-2024)

Commercial services: please make sure your gated areas are not plowed in and regular accessible to open and close properly. The commercial containers are metal, with colder temperatures, rain, ice, or snow could make your the solid waste freeze inside the container.
Road conditions and side street. There could be some Roads and side street hard for the trucks to drive down. Depending on Inclines/declines or if they need to back into the street. Yes, the trucks are larger than personal vehicles. But that does not mean they handle snow and ice better. All drivers we entrust to use their best judgement and thoughtful decision making.
If you have Christmas trees or bulk schedule for collection , understand that they can't be buried under ice or snow. That could effect collection.
We normally do not do delay start times for collections in inclement weather situations normally.

Please understand that we try not to make quick decisions on collection schedules when inclement weather is involved. We try to everything into account. While we always try to give all our customers our best service possible, we always want to make sure our drivers/crews are in safe conditions. Glass containers often used for liquids, such as soda or beer, are some of the most common items that are collected by curbside recycling programs next to plastic bottles and aluminum cans. I'm sure you've heard that glass is 100% recyclable and can be recycled again and again. It is also the most complicated material to process as it is heavy, has a low commodity value and breaks easily through the process potentially causing harm to equipment and staff. Just like plastic, not all glass is made the same and only certain types of glass products can be recycled depending on the area you live in. Compared to new glass containers, recycled glass reduces air pollution by 20 percent and water pollution by 50 percent. Recycling glass containers also helps reduce raw materials, waste in landfills, and disposal costs. Surprisingly, the recycling rate for glass in the United States is only 34 percent. To compare, the recycle rate for aluminum cans is 67 percent.

What Glass Products Cannot Be Recycled and What Can I Do?

All glass being able to be treated the same for recycling is a large misconception in curbside recycling. Instead of going over what type of glass can be recycled, it's easier to list the things that can't. Depending on your area, what can and can't be recycled is different but typically glass beverage bottles and jars are able to be recycled. Because the composition for different glass products vary, the ways to dispose of them do as well. Things added to the composition change the melting point for glass. The glass that is most often recycled such as glass bottles and jars, have a common melting point which makes it easier for facilities to recycle them together and making them more accepted for recycling programs.

Compared to other forms of recycling, glass recycling is less common because the composition for glass is mainly sand which has a higher supply than metal or oil. A lot of the glass recycled is also downcycled. This means that it is broken down and made into lower quality materials. Glass gets downcycled into things such as tiles or shingles where using recycled materials can sometimes be cheaper. Glass is also more prone to breaking during transportation from a recycling facility to it's final destination. The following glass items can't be recycled:

Kitchen Glassware

Kitchen glassware such as glass cups and wine glasses are not likely to be recycled by your local recycling program. This is because manufacturers add other materials to it so that it may meet its intended purpose. Kitchen glassware has a higher melting point than bottles or jars which makes them harder to recycle. They potentially can contaminate an entire batch if mixed in with other types of glass, because of its melting point. Unfortunately, there are no recycling programs for these items as the lifespan is long and the volume of this type of glassware is low. Making it hard for recycling facilities to justify the costs of separating the material.

Lightbulbs

According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), CFLs, fluorescent bulbs, and other bulbs contain mercury, which is a hazardous material. Mercury is a metal that is toxic and can be released into the atmosphere if a bulb breaks in a landfill. Almost every part of the lightbulb is recyclable from the glass to metal to other materials. While they cannot be placed in curbside pickup, it is strongly encouraged to look at your local recycling programs to see what options they have for lightbulbs. Some communities have recycling drives for items such as these once a year which means you will have to hold onto your old lightbulbs until then, while others might have it throughout the year. Local retailers and hardware stores such as Home Depot, Ikea, and Lowes also offer recycling programs for lightbulbs and other hazardous waste. Some light bulbs such as LEDs and incandescent bulbs do not contain mercury, but might not be recycled because the cost of collection does not justify the cost of recycling the glass.

Windows

Windows are treated glass which means they were manufactured with chemicals that make them stronger and much harder to break than container glass. This type of glass requires a higher temperature to melt than regular recyclable glass. It is true that they can be recycled if the entire batch was treated glass, but most recycling facilities do not have the equipment to take treated glass. Mirrors

Mirrors are hard to recycle because of the reflective paint on the back on the glass which makes recycling them almost impossible. Mirrors are another type of glass that has a different melting point than regularly recycled glass bottles and containers. Local antique shops, vendors, or secondhand stores may take old or unwanted mirrors which is better than throwing them out with regular trash. Broken mirrors can be reused for fun and creative crafts. There are a lot of guides on the internet showing you what kind of projects can be done with broken mirrors such as mosaics or wind chimes. If a mirror was broken into large pieces, it is possible that they can be cut and put into a frame to create a smaller mirror. If you are unable to use the broken mirror, there are some non-profit organizations that sell craft supplies and might take it from you.

Recycle Nation gives a good example on why treated glass cannot be recycled with regular recyclable glass containers. Their example is to imagine melting crayons and Styrofoam together. These two items have two completely different melting points. Crayons would melt first while the Styrofoam pieces would still be whole. This would not work because now the crayon has pieces of Styrofoam ruining it because now there are lumps of garbage in the crayon.

Eyeglasses

There are more eyeglasses today than people in the United States when counting sunglasses, prescription glasses and over the counter readers. Eyeglasses last about two years on average before being replaced. Some insurance plans offer free eyeglasses every year but it is better to keep using your old ones if the prescription is the same and they are in good condition. They might be the easiest non-recyclable glass product to get rid of without throwing them away. The best solution for them would be to donate them. Many eyeglass stores collect old or unwanted eyeglasses to donate, so make sure to do a quick search to see if there are any near you.

What to Do With Glass That is Recycled Curbside

Check to make sure your local community does curbside glass recycling. Some cities will only accept glass that is dropped off at a recycling center.
Follow community guidelines to avoid adding items that can potentially contaminate the recycling stream.
Remove caps from glass bottles as it can be included with other metals.
Take wine corks to a re-cork drop off instead of recycling them at the curb.
Rinse bottles and jars to keep them free of insects.
Solid items inside the bottle such as lime wedges do not need to be removed because they will burn off in the facility.
Prevent glass bottles and jars from breaking in your bin so that they are able to be recycled.

Unfortunately, in addition to being dangerous for you, broken glass has little to no recycling value. The best way to get rid of small amount of broken glass is to wrap it in paper or a plastic bag before throwing it away so that sanitation workers are not injured by it. There are times that we use things and don't know how to properly dispose of them. We think that just throwing items in the trash will suffice and not do too much damage. Doing these things can cause a lot of harm to the environment but luckily, it's an easy fix. Educating ourselves on how to properly dispose of items can go a long way. Certain places will accept your hard to dispose of items with little or no extra cost to you. Sometimes it's as easy as throwing them into the recycle in. Also looking into avoiding buying items that are hard to dispose of and replacing them with a better option is another thing that can be done. A lot of people are shying away from excessive plastic usage because there are much better options that not only reduce the amount used but are also simple to do that don't require a large amount of effort.

Some companies even take yogurt or butter tubs. To tell if your plastic is recyclable simply look at the bottom of the bottle or container and you should see a small triangle with a number either inside or below it. If the number is between 1 to 7 you can generally place it into the recycling bin unless your township specifically says you cannot.

What Plastics Cannot Be Recycled and What Can I Do?

Some items are not able to be thrown into recycling bins for a number of reasons. These household plastics that cannot be recycled are:

Plastic wrap
Chip bags
Plastic bags
Disposable cups
Styrofoam

Plastic wraps and plastic bags are not as widely accepted by recycling facilities due to them being able to get stuck in the equipment and brining the machines to a standstill. Chip bags are not normally recycled because they are made with layers of different plastics and lined with aluminum which isn’t easy to separate. When put into regular recycling, they are often incorrectly sorted as paper and can make an entire bale worthless. These items can still be recycled but they have to be taken to a separate location that will accept them. Many grocery stores do take in unwanted plastic bags while many of these other items on the list can be taken to a local collection site. Plastics that are three inches or smaller like bag clips, pill packaging, condiment pouches that may also cause problems for the recycling equipment and it is better to just throw them away. These items can get caught or fall in between the belts which might halt the operation.

In order to live a more green and environmentally friendly lifestyle, there are easy steps we can take.

While the idea of reducing household waste can be overwhelming, getting started can be as easy as taking one small step each day.

7 Tips to Reduce Waste

1. Recycle More

Only 1.5 pounds out of 5.9 pounds of garbage are recycled. Americans leave a lot of recyclables in the trash; according to the EPA, 70% of our garbage is recyclable , but only 30% actually gets recycled. That’s a big gap! We can reduce that gap in our own homes by properly cleaning and sorting recyclables from trash. Please note when reviewing our Holiday Collection Schedule for 2022, the information below is only for Holidays our operation is closed. If your collection day falls on one of the below Holidays, we will be performing collection on your next scheduled collection day (not the next day).

For the Year of 2022, the following Holidays will be running under a "Double Day Schedule". If you do not see a certain Holiday Alternate Schedule below then we will be operating under a normal collection schedule for that Holiday.

Due to how the calendar falls this year (2022), there are FOUR HOLIDAYS that we will be running on a "Double Day Schedule". Our operations will be closed on those Holidays. Please note Christmas and New Years Day fall on a Sunday this year. Both weeks are under a normal collection schedule.

For our Residential customers who have collection today, at 5:00am this morning we evaluated the conditions and decided that will we not be sending our trucks our for residential collection. Know that making a decision to keep our residential trucks in because of inclement weather is not an easy decision. There are a lot of different factors we take into consideration. We hope this message finds you well. Last week, Hurricane Ida hit most New Jersey areas hard. Townships, residents, and businesses all over the state are still trying to recover from the devastation that occurred. We are using this post today to reach out to all our customers and try to give them information and direct them in regards to for damages from Hurricane Ida. If you have an email on file, you will be receiving this information today as well.

After the damages that Hurricane Ida left most homes and businesses, we have been receiving a lot of calls about disposal of flood damaged items/materials. Please, understand that flood damage items/materials need to be disposed of differently than household trash and approved bulk items. Flood damaged items and materials, we can only supply roll-off container service rental (as inventory is available).

Please note we are under an normal collection schedule for today. All of our trucks started their routes at normal time. Understand that there maybe some delay due to the road conditions (Down Trees/Wires, Road closures, Flooding, traffic) from the storm we received last night. Our crews are our there and will be doing the best they can to service you today. Note we have had some customers reach out to us about collection today. If your container was out the night before or before 6:00am for residential collection, barring issues with the roads it should be collected today. The trucks can not be sent back for containers today, due to road conditions and the traffic patterns happening because of the storm. Commercial customers note our drivers have been out normal time as well. They will be doing their best to provide collection today. Note certain parts of Route 1, Route 18, Route 22, Route 287 and other main roads have been affected by the storm. These traffic delays or road closure could impact collection times or collection today.

We hope this message finds you well. This post is a reminder of our Holiday schedule as Memorial Day approaches on Monday, May 31st.

Monday (May 31st): Operations closed in observance of Memorial Day. No residential collection for customers collected on Mondays.
Tuesday (June 1st): Normal Tuesday Residential Collection schedule. Note residents in the following communities: Beau Ridge at Holmdel, Rolling Hills at Maple Run, and the Barons at Basking Ridge please view information below for your make-up day collection schedule.
Wednesday (June 2nd): Normal Collection Schedule.
Thursday (June 3rd): Double Day/Make-up collection for all Monday residential customers due to the Holiday on Monday, May 31st.
Friday (June 4th): Normal collection schedule

Operations at Pinto Brothers Disposal will be closed for Memorial Day, Monday, May 31, 2021. Residential customers that normally have collection performed on Mondays, there will be no collection due to the holiday. Thursday, June 3rd, will be the next collection day for all 1x and 2x per week residential customers. Please make sure for Thursday, June 3rd, collection your trash is out the night before on Thursday morning. Any extra bagged solid waste you have out for collection on Thursday, the drivers will make sure to clean up. No bulk collection will be scheduled for collection on this day. Please note due to the double day on Thursday, June 3rd, your collection time will be different that normal, please be patient as the drivers go through the route

What is considered a bulk item and how to schedule bulk collection?

To all residential customers our service includes a free scheduled bulk collection of up to four items per month.

When looking to schedule the collection for the bulk items please do not hesitate to call our office. During the scheduling call, we will confirm with you the date of the bulk collection. All bulk is a curbside collection.

Normally bulk collection is performed on Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday. (Depending on you're service route) (Note, you can schedule more than four items but the extra items will need to be charged). In an event, your looking to clean out an entire room, garage, basement full items we might direct you to rent a dumpster.

Please see a list of acceptable and unacceptable items for the bulk collection.

Pinto Brothers Disposal is going to try and run all Friday routes as much as possible, prior to snow/ice accumulating. The trucks started at their normal times. Our goal is to get as many customers collected as possible prior to conditions/roads getting bad. We ask to make sure your trash is out the night before for collection. Trucks will not be able to go back today if your solid waste was not put out in time due to the weather conditions.

- Most trucks are still collected on their normal routes. Conditions/roads are becoming harder to operate safely. If you were not collected today, we are sorry for any inconvenience and will collected all solid waste on Monday (2/22/2021)

- Residents in Beau Ridge at Holmdel. Your collection day has been moved from today (2/18/2021) to Friday (2/19/2021). Please make sure you have to solid waste out for tomorrow and a path to the containers

- Our office will be closed at 1:00pm today. We will reopen at 8:00am tomorrow (2/19/2021)

Composting at Home

Composting is a natural process where organic materials decompose and are recycled into a dark, crumbly, earthy smelling soil conditioner known as "compost". Compost improves soil structure and moisture retention and contributes to healthy plant growth by providing plant nutrients. Food scraps and yard waste together currently make up more than 30 percent of what we throw away and could be composted instead. Making compost keeps these materials out of landfills where they take up space and release methane, a potent greenhouse gas.

Composting requires three basic ingredients:

Browns- materials such as dead leaves, branches, and twigs. They provide carbon for the composite.
Greens- materials such as grass clippings, vegetable waste, fruit scraps, and coffee grounds. They provide nitrogen for the composite.
Water- the right amount of water. Helps provide moisture to help break down the organic matter.

Your compost pile should have an equal amount of browns to greens with alternating layers of organic materials of different-sized particles.

Keys to Good Compost

Water: The microorganisms in the compost pile need water to live. Water pile only as needed, to maintain compost as moist as a wrung out sponge. Do not let your pile dry out completely.

Nutrients: The microorganisms in the pile need carbon for energy and nitrogen for protein in order to survive. A good balance can be achieved by mixing two parts of nitrogen rich green materials such as grass clippings, with one part of carbon rich brown materials such as leaves. However, carbon-rich leaves by themselves will compost.

Aeration: To speed up decomposition, turn the pile frequently using a pitch fork. This provides the microorganisms with enough oxygen to thrive so they can heat up the compost. Placing large branches at the bottom of the pile will also help add air to the pile. Minimal turning would be once per month and less frequently during the year.

Surface area: The more surface area the microorganisms have to work on, the faster materials will decompose. Consider chopping materials, particularly brush or branches which have a diameter of ¼ inch or more. Pile size is also important. For quicker decomposition, pile should be at least 3 feet x 3 feet to hold the heat of microbial activity, but not so large (larger than 5 feet x 5 feet) that air can't reach microbes at the center of the pile.

How to Compost at Home

Types of Compost Bins
- Compost can be made on open piles. Using homemade bins from wood pallets or snow fences
- Compost Tumblers or Durable Plastic Bins are other great option to use if you do not have the space in your yard.
Composting Methods
- Slow Harvest: Ready in 12-18 months (Open piles)
  - Made by adding layers of available yard waste over several months.
  - Set compost in a dry, shady area near a water source or available for rain
  - Add brown and green making sure larger pieces are chopped or shredded.
  - Moisten dry materials as they are added.
  - As the compost pile is established, mix grass clippings and green waste into the pile and bury fruit and vegetable waste under 10 inches of compost materials
  - Regularly mix/turn the compost pile and add some water to help maintain the compost. The material at the bottom and in the center will compost first.
- Fast Harvest: Ready in 5-15 weeks
  - Mix equal weights of green and brown materials all at once
  - Grass Clippings or vegetable scraps mixed with brown materials such as leaves (no woody-type materials should be included)
  - Add water to pile until it is as wet as a wrung out sponge
  - Turn pile with pitch fork or compost aerator tool twice a week for faster compost production (less often in the wintertime)

Benefits/Use of Composting

Uses
- Mulch: Spread compost around flower and vegetable plantings, trees, shrubs, and on exposed slopes. This will smother weeds, keep plants roots moist, and prevent soil erosion
- Soil Conditioner: Mix 1-3 inches of compost into vegetable and flowers beds before planting. This returns organic matter to the soil in a usable form
- Potting Mix: Make your own mix by using equal parts of compost and san or soil. Make sure compost is fully decomposed and screened

Before you begin your journey to switching over to zero-waste products, it is important to first understand what zero waste is. In simple words, zero-waste is a waste prevention concept which tries to accomplish the goal of sending the least amount of waste as possible to landfills and also by going greener in general. This includes waste produced in the production of a product and the waste produced by consumers when they are done with the product.

There are plenty of ways you can implement a zero-waste lifestyle by bringing zero waste products/actions into your life.

Above are just a few ways we can change and evaluate how we are looking at these topics in order to get to our goal.

What we will be doing is sharing information from different sources about how to implement a zero waste lifestyle. Below are just a few tips from two different articles posted about Zero Waste. Alliance Disposal put together a great small list of different products we use in our daily life, we should take a different look at. Food/Kitchen Products

Stainless steel or any reusable straws instead of plastic straws: Many of us use straws on a regular basis especially when we purchase cold drinks from restaurants and cafes. Since they are so commonly used all over the world, they are also one of the more common forms of waste thrown in the growing landfills. That’s why it is better for the environment to start using reusable straws made from clean materials. To help this cause, select Starbucks locations have started serving drinks in cups with lids that have a mouth to drink from, eliminating the need for any straws.
Reusable shopping and grocery bags instead of plastic bags: By bringing your own shopping bag to pack your groceries in, you will be contributing to a cleaner environment because plastic bags are harmful for the environment. Plus, less trash sent to the landfills. Fun fact: some cities including Seattle, Washington have you pay an extra few cents to use their plastic bags to encourage customers to start using reusable bags.
Reusable containers or reusable cottons sandwich bags instead of plastic sandwich bags: Plastic sandwich bags like Zip-Loc can easily be trashed once their use is over, and they aren’t good for the environment either. That’s why it is better to use reusable silicone or glass containers to store food in. Not only does food last longer in said containers compared to plastic sandwich bags, but they can easily be cleaned and reused too. A washable cotton sandwich bag is also another option, especially for ease when carrying food to work.
Coffee maker and an optional reusable coffee filter instead of going to a coffee shop every morning: This method is both a money saver and good for the environment. By investing in your own coffee maker, you will be saving yourself a lot of time and money because you won’t have to rush to a coffee shop every morning to buy coffee before work. Some coffee makers do require you to use coffee filters, so getting yourself a filter made of reusable material will be better in the long run because you won’t be throwing them out after every use.
Wooden dish brush instead of a sponge: Sponges do a good job of cleaning dishes, but they can easily be torn by knives or other sharp utensils. A wooden dish brush is made from rough bristles to prevent breakage, but also to provide a deeper clean

Cleaning Products:

Homemade multipurpose cleaner instead of a collection of different cleaners with chemicals: By creating your own concoction at home for cleaning purposes, you are cleaning your home without chemicals. Also, by using only one cleaner, you will be saving the environment by reducing the number of plastic containers you would be using if you cleaned with multiple store-bought cleaners.
Reusable cotton cloths or towels instead of paper towels: Rather than taking off a piece of paper towel each time you want to dry your hands, you can use a reusable cotton cloth or towel instead because you won’t be adding more to the trash. They can also be useful if you want to dry your dishes after washing them.
Reusable natural fabric softener balls in place of liquid fabric softener or fabric softener sheets: Most liquid fabric softeners come in plastic bottles or containers, and a lot of times they can’t be reused for anything else. And most fabric softener sheets aren’t reusable, so using them every time you do your laundry contributes to the landfill we are trying to eliminate or at least reduce. Switching over to fabric softener balls eliminates the use of plastic and trash because they can be used over and over again. For fresher smelling laundry, it is also suggested to spritz a couple drops of essential oils on the fabric softener balls.
Laundry and dish detergent pods and pastes: Laundry detergent pods are better than their liquid counterparts because they don’t use any plastic at all, which means less contribution to the landfill.

Natural toothpaste tablets instead of toothpaste in a tube: Toothpaste tubes are normally made out of materials harmful for the environment, like plastic. Each time the tube is finished, you throw it out; therefore, contributing to the landfill we are trying to reduce if not eliminate. Replacing toothpaste tubes with toothpaste tablets is efficient because the tablets come in one jar, and all you have to do is take one by mouth. And many times, the jar can be reused for something else, like holding your toothbrushes for example.
Shampoo bars instead of bottled shampoos: Shampoo bars are not very common right now and it may be a strange concept to some people, but they are actually better for not only your hair, but also the environment. Shampoo bars aren’t made from harmful, drying ingredients that your regular shampoos are made from. In that sense, bar shampoos are better for your hair because they don’t contain the sulfates and various other harmful ingredients that strip your hair of its natural oils and may cause other forms of damage to your hair. However, bar shampoos are also a good zero waste product because of the way its produced. They don’t come in packaging that harms the environment like bottled liquid shampoos do. Instead, they come in small boxes or cardboard containers that can be recycled easily.
Natural wood hairbrush instead of a hairbrush with plastic bristles: Natural wood hairbrushes are better for your hair’s overall health and strength because they don’t roughly pull on your hair the way plastic bristled hairbrushes do. Though natural wood hair brushes are also better than plastic bristled hair brushes because of their benefits for the environment.
Bamboo toothbrush instead of a plastic toothbrush: Bamboo itself is a natural material unlike plastic. Bamboo toothbrushes are better for the environment because they have considerably less ecological footprint compared to plastic toothbrushes. Even after a bamboo toothbrush has come to the end of its use, the handle of the bamboo toothbrush can be reused.

We serve and interact with homeowners, business, corporations, townships, Boards of Education, and Management Companies to help with their solid waste and recycling needs.

Details for Open Position:

We are currently looking for full-time CDL truck driver for one of our residential solid waste route. Our residential routes operate on a 4 day per week collection schedule. Collection schedule as followed: Monday/Thursday and Tuesday/Friday with Wednesday being an off day. Driver is guaranteed 40 hours per week. Responsible for safely operating a collection truck, and providing prompt, courteous and complete waste removal services for customers.

Minimum Requirements:

· Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License with air brakes endorsement

· Valid DOT Physical

· Good Standing Driving Record

Responsibilities:

· Perform complete pre- and post-operation inspection of the vehicle in accordance with Company policy to ensure controls are in proper working order. Report any safety issues on standard reports.

· Safely operate his or her heavy truck along his or her designated route and to the disposal site; read route sheet, follow map and service each customer as identified on the route sheet or as assigned by the dispatcher and/or supervisor.

· Operate manual and/or automatic controls in accordance with Company safety policies and procedures to lift and load refuse, operate compactor and dispose of collected material at the designated facility.

· Courteously interact with all customers, dispatchers and others on a daily basis to ensure all customer routes are serviced in a timely and professional manner.
Clean area around an accidental waste spill, ensuring adherence to all applicable safety standards and policies.

· Continuously monitor the condition of the vehicle to ensure it is operationally ready at all times to minimize down time; clean waste from the packer blade and truck body (where appropriate) on each disposal trip.

· Complete required route/productivity sheets, VCRs and other reports, as required.
Maintain adherence to required productivity standards for the department to ensure all customers are serviced in a timely and efficient manner.

· Follow all required safety policies and procedures.

· Good customer services skills to meet and exceed customer expectations; acts in a professional, courteous and cooperative manner toward customers and co-workers; works with a sense of honesty and trustworthiness.

· Good time management skills to ensure assigned responsibilities are completed in an efficient and safe manner.

· Good follow through ability; adheres to work schedule and follows through on challenges as they arise.

· Ability to adhere to Company policies and rules set forth; promotes the Company’s safety standards; does not take inappropriate risks.

2/15/19: Presidents Day Collection Schedule/Monthly Billing Issue

Presidents Day Monday 2/18/19
- We will be operating under a normal pick up schedule. If your collection day is Monday, please have your container out the night before or before 6:00am on Monday morning.

Monthly Billing Customers:
We would like to make all our monthly customers aware that during processing our monthly bills this month, there was an error with our printer. Most customers received this week/going to receive two bills for the month of March and the terms will state, "Due Upon Receipt". We are sorry for this error and please do not be alarmed. The monthly bills you received/going to receive this week are not due until March 10, 2019. If you are one of the customers that received a double bill, please disregard the second bill.

We have also noticed from speaking with our customers that an abnormal amount of monthly customers did not receive their postcards last month. We are aware of this issue and been talking to the post office about out going and incoming mail. This for some reason has been a recurring issue since November. Please note that we have been trying to connect with our customers through different channels. We now offering paperless billing (email bills) and you can access your account online through www.pintobrothersdisposal.com . Using our portal with your Web Acct# (located on the bottom left of your bill) you will be able to view your account, make payments, sign up for auto pay, and sign up for paperless billing. Also by using our portal, you will be able to update us with your most current information and receive email updates for weather closings/information.
